We are seeking a Law Clerk/Legal Assistance with exceptional qualities to work with our associates and legal team in a dynamic, fast paced environment. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in guiding legal processes, assisting associates and advocating for clients with clarity and compassion. You’ll work closely with lawyers and clients to advance complex legal files with precision and purpose.
The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask successfully. Strong practice and client management skills are crucial. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and organized, ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with other team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Manage complex legal files from intake through to resolution, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with procedural requirements.
- Client Relations: Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients, demonstrating empathy, clarity, and advocacy.
- Legal Research & Drafting: Prepare documents such as pleadings, affidavits, court documents, motions, briefs and general correspondence.
- Court & Tribunal Support: Coordinate court filings and assist the team at tribunals, mediations, and hearings, where appropriate.
- Liaison Work: Communicate effectively with external counsel, court staff, community organizations, and regulatory bodies to move cases forward efficiently.
- Advocacy Support: Champion client rights and dignity in every file. Contribute to community outreach initiatives and pro bono projects as aligned with our firm’s values.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 of experience as a Law Clerk or Legal Assistant, with progressive responsibility, preferably in litigation or human rights/employment law. Thorough knowledge of court procedures, filing requirements, and relevant legal software. Experience working with marginalized or vulnerable populations is a strong asset. Detail oriented and well organized.
